Gun safety

Promoting gun safety
The Lenexa Police Department is an active partner in Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide commitment to reducing gun violence and gun crime. The program funds services for local communities throughout the country, including training, gun lock safety kits through Project Childsafe, information on how to deter juvenile gun crime, and the development and promotion of community outreach efforts to support other gun violence reduction strategies. For more information, visit the Project Safe Neighborhoods and Project Childsafe websites.

Free gun locks

The Police Department has a limited number of gun locks available at no charge to residents. To request a lock for your firearm, contact the Crime Prevention office at 913.477.7245.
