To amend your Driving While Suspended charge, complete the following steps:

1. Determine the current status of your driver’s license.

This can be accomplished by contacting the State Department of Revenue which issued your license, or by visiting a Driver’s License Exam Station. Once you learn the reason your license is suspended, canceled or revoked, you may be able to take steps in order to get the license reinstated to valid status.

2. Obtain reinstatement of your driving privileges and bring proof of reinstatement to next court date.

Driver’s licenses are often suspended canceled or revoked for failing to appear in court, failing to pay fines and fees, failure to provide proof of mandatory insurance or other reasons. Your driving privileges must be reinstated prior to obtaining an amendment.

3. Bring adequate funds to pay for fines and fees.

If you desire to amend a Driving While Suspended charge to a lesser offense, the assessed fine is generally $300 plus court costs and must be paid in full at the time of amendment.
